You do NOT ask a LADY her Atomic Weight.

I’ve always been an advocate of casual business attire, but my thoughts on this are more liberal than most. For me, casual should be pajamas. Or sweats. Sweatshirts, anything comfy. Because, unless you meet with clients, who gives a shit what you wear? The girls in sales look like they spend a fortune on clothes and I end up grudgingly following the rules and coming off rumpled and…well. It’s quite obvi that I don’t care much about work attire.

So, today is my chance, my dream!

Today’s Halloween costume: I’m Xenon. I’m somewhat rare (smile, gleaming teeth with star), first of all, and I’m inert, so, pajamas. My pajamas are just a comfy sweatshirt and PJ pants anyway, but I did bring my slippers. Xenon is also extremely stubborn with her electrons and doesn’t give them up easily. It will fight you. (And that’s not like me AT ALL.) Also of importance is that it doesn’t like most other atoms. (And that’s not like me AT ALL.) Xenon can, however, be Florinated. But that doesn’t really count because it will resist. And anyway, everyone knows that Florine is the Russell Brand (or Sienna Miller, depending on your sexual preference) of the periodic table. It’s, how you say, “indiscriminate.”

Other things I can be, if I don’t want to be seen as a complete dork (and that’s not like me AT ALL): a grad student, or, “Me on Weekends.”

Pictures later.

And yes, Boyfriend has his hand in this. Do you think I could come up with this on my own? We do the cutesy name thing, but he also calls me other things, like his Dee, thinks that Walter Sobchack and I have more in common than not, and, most sweet and romantic of all, I’m his Argon. (Let’s just say that Argon doesn’t play well with others.) I love all of this, of course. At any rate, today I’m Xenon. I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea.

You are so awesome.

I’m comatose today. I should have come to work in a hospital gown and it would have been (breezy!) and festive, too!

I totally agree about people getting too dressed up for work! My friend and I always make fun of the guys who wear a suit and tie to work all day in a cube. It’s totally moronic. And I also end up looking like I schlub at work, but I could care less!

That is perfect! You always know how to come up with something original that totally WORKS.

Me? I just rode my usual broom today.

I love it! I have thought about going as radium (Ra!), with the periodic square as a sort of sandwich board.

The last time I dressed up for Halloween at work I was a Telecommuter … PJ’s and robe, fuzzy slippers. Didn’t even shower before I rode in. It was heaven!!

Tonight I’m in a Halloween contest with my fellow fitness boot campers … I’m going as Richard Simmons. Can’t WAIT!!

I thought about going as House today, but then I didn’t really care. All I needed was a cane, not to shave for a few days, and the bottle of Vicodin I still have sitting around. And my usual ‘I hate everyone’ attitude. But that was too much effort.

This is very cool and extremely creative. But personally I like to dress up for work. If I’m in my jeans or sweats I just want to hang out. Consequently I get nothing done at work on dress down day, lol. That being said, I LOVE being able to work from home because now I can work in my PJs.

The longer I’m in the workplace (and it hasn’t been all that long, so I shudder to think how bitter I’ll be after more than 6 years), the more “businesswear” seems like a costume to me. Why does what I have on affect my ability to do my job? Oh, right, it doesn’t. I hate all my work clothes, but I just refuse to spend money on updating my work wardrobe right now… especially when I can spend that money on threadless t-shirts.

I’m way too lazy to dress up for Halloween… your costume idea is genius. Brava!

You lost me at Xenon.

At any rate, I’m glad you had fun and that at least someone understood it!

But I do know who Dee is, and I have to agree that she’s pretty darned bad-ass.
